The Gallo Center & Sankofa Theatre Company present FENCES The Gallo Center and Sankofa Theatre Company, which have joined forces for The Piano Lesson and Looking Over the President's Shoulder, will present August Wilson’s story of a responsible yet otherwise flawed black garbage collector in pre-Civil Rights America who rises to the level of an epic hero. The play mirrors the classic struggles of status quo, tradition, and age, versus change, innovation, and youth. During its 1987 Broadway run, Fences garnered four Tony Awards, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is one of the most significant African-American plays of the 20th century. Contact : Gallo Center Phone : 209-338-2100 Email : Web Site : galloarts.org
