Mary Poppins

Presented by Modesto Christian Performing Arts Based on the books by P.L. Travers, the classic Walt Disney film, and the musical stage production by Cameron Mackintosh, this is the story of the Banks family and how their lives change when a nanny, Mary Poppins, arrives at their home at 17 Cherry Tree Lane in London. Things are not going well for Jane and Michael, who are out of control, and their latest nanny just stormed out. The children decide to write the advertisement for a new nanny, but Mr. Banks has a very different idea of what constitutes the perfect nanny and he tears up the piece of paper and throws it in the fireplace. Within moments Mary Poppins arrives and takes charge of the Banks children. While out on an adventure, they meet Bert and, despite their reservations about his ragged clothes and dirty face, Mary teaches them that they must learn to look past appearances. Mary Poppins is a story for young and old with unforgettable songs, astonishing dance numbers, and a certain amount of stage magic that will leave you breathless.
